Chiropractic Care and Safety
Chiropractic care is widely regarded as a safe and effective form of treatment for musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine, joints, and nervous system. Our approach is always patient-centred, evidence-informed, and tailored to your individual needs.
As with any healthcare treatment, there are some potential risks. The vast majority of patients experience either no side effects or only mild, short-term reactions following treatment.
Common, Temporary Effects
Some people may notice mild symptoms after an adjustment. These typically resolve within 24–48 hours and may include:
Temporary soreness or stiffness in the treated area
Mild headaches
Fatigue or feeling slightly tired
A temporary increase in symptoms before improvement
These responses are generally a normal part of the body adapting to treatment.
Rare but More Serious Risks
Serious complications from chiropractic care are extremely rare. As Chiropractors we are trained to screen for risk factors and will carry out a thorough history and examination before beginning treatment to ensure care is appropriate and safe for you.
If at any time I believe chiropractic treatment is not suitable, I will discuss this with you and may refer you to another healthcare professional where appropriate.
Your Safety Is Our Priority
To ensure the safest and most effective care:
I will explain your diagnosis and proposed treatment plan clearly.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and give informed consent before treatment begins.
Please inform me of any medical conditions, medications, recent injuries, or changes in your health.
If you experience any unusual or concerning symptoms after treatment, contact us promptly for advice.
Open communication is essential. The more I understand about your health history and goals, the better I can tailor care to your needs.
By taking the time to read this information, you are helping me provide care that is safe, transparent, and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for you.
